PRO-BONO LEGAL OPPORTUNITIES

Are you exploring ways to complete pro-bono hourly commitment or are you a retired attorney looking to give back to your community?

If you are interested in exploring ways your law firm, in-house legal department, or law school can collaborate with Mommy’s Heart to provide pro bono legal services to our parents in need, please email us.

Volunteer Attorneys

Are you a licensed attorney interested in providing remote or in person pro-bono legal services to help our parents in need?

Pro-bono attorneys, participating in our pro-bono legal program, receive supervision, case support, mentorship, and specialized training by an experienced Mommy's Heart affiliated attorney, who is well versed in family law and the types of legal tactics deployed by abusers against their victims in family court. Pro-bono attorneys may get involved in the following ways: supervising a law school student intern, assisting pro-se litigants, or representing parents in court. To volunteer, please click here.

Law School Student Internships

Mommy’s Heart accepts legal internship applications on a rolling basis and provides family law training for our legal interns throughout the year. All interns are supervised and mentored by a Mommy’s Heart affiliated licensed attorney with expertise in family law. If you are a law school student interested in participating in our legal internship program, please click here.

On May 27, 2023, we successfully launched our Legal Summer Internship program with participating law school students from NYU, Cardozo, Brooklyn Law School, and others. We hosted a three-hour family law orientation conducted by family law expert attorney, scholar, author, and professor, Kris McDaniel-Miccio, JD, LLM, JS.D at 1 Pennsylvania Plaza, which was free to all interested in learning more about our mission and/or volunteering in our pro-bono legal program. Thank you to board member, Justin Alexander, for hosting our event and making this possible. Photos from that day have been posted to the Mommy's Heart Facebook page.
